The Lion's Roar

A lion's roar
A tale of enemies
All the time on Earth
stretched out before you
like a panoramic movie
and you watch in fast-forward
wave after wave
a bird spreads its wings
like a child's smile spreads from cheek to cheek
and in the moment it was a natural act
and in the moment it was a fatal act
and in the moment it was done out of love
and in the moment it was done out of hate
and in the moment it wasn't what you wanted it to be
and in the moment it was just fruit taken from a tree

And his eyes were wide open
and her eyes needed shade from the sun
and the light of God, stretched out over the land
like a lion's roar

Weary soldier

Take the vile
drink what it contains
a pin drop
heard across a room
the light heading this way could be a train
should I move?
should I stay?
